Sleeping under the stars is a great experience for many people. The experience starts to differ though, at the point where talk of comfort begins. It is interesting to try and emulate that ever-fascinating idol, the cowboy. Sleeping outdoors with nothing but clothes, horse, campfire and rocks for company are a familiar sight in cowboy literature, movies and television. Of course, in film shoots, they don't really have to lie down on solid rock the whole night. In this day and age of comfort and convenience, nobody in their right minds would actually do it. Humans are spoiled brats when it comes to comfort and convenience. Unlike our ancestors of old, we tend to veto the idea of going outdoors if the comforts of home can't go along with us. This is where the need for camping gear began. Today, there are tons of camping equipment to choose from. You can find them at your local stores and sporting good shops. You can also jump online and look for god buys or get really cheap equipment at EBay. Wherever you choose to look, the first thing that you do look for is something with which to shield your back to spare it the following morning's discomfort. You wouldn't even think of not having a simple mattress underneath you when you lie down on good old mother earth. As there are a variety of beds available for your room, there are also a variety of beds available for camping. If you're used to a down filled comforter and a rather firm mattress underneath, you could probably find a camping bed of similar structure out in the shops. Whatever your choice or preference, make sure to have these trusty companions along with you. Nursing a bad back or some sore muscles is not really an endearing pastime. Humanity has advanced so far with its technology that we, alas, cannot even sleep on the bare ground. |
