Stoves in Camp
The evolution of camping equipment is simply amazing. Cooking was an extreme sport when done with those old camping stove models. The first of these stoves are, of course, the basic cowboy campfire. If you didn't know what you were doing, you ended up with burnt or slightly raw cooking. Then there was the camping stove fueled by liquid gas. Along with the stove, the funnel for the gas was just as important. Forgetting to bring one was similar to not having gas. Next you had to twist the rod that extended into the gas tank of the stoves  just the right way so that you could pump the tank. This involved covering the hole on the end of the rod and pumping until you could no longer get any more air into the tank. Then you had to twist the rod the right way to get it to lock back into the tank. This activity was good for only one burner. What if you had two and needed both? The fuel tanks on the camping stoves were not very large, so often times they would loose fuel while cooking. This could cause even the hardiest of campers to turn to freeze dried food packed in foil..

The new camping stoves are quite different and, according to my experience, a heavenly gift for us mere mortals. Furthermore, there is not only one, but hundreds of camping stove variations to choose from. Choices range from the old gas  model to stoves that ignite electronically. The newest models of camping stoves have multiple burners that can be used simultaneously. The fuel source for most stoves today is now mostly butane contained inside disposable canisters, which helps in avoiding accidents. The butane canisters also come in a variety of sizes. Worrying about fuel running out has become a thing of the past. Some stoves even have a built in oven.

Cooking outdoors today has never been so convenient. Taking a camping stove along with you today is similar to bringing your kitchen stove back at home.

Since these stoves are easy to use, and controlling cooking temperatures is a snap, cooking at camp is now a more efficient activity. This leaves you more time to do what you came her for.
